GEOCLEAN® 101S

Pretreatment

Overview

GEOCLEAN® 101S is a heavy duty caustic cleaner used at ambient temperatures, lowering operating and maintenance costs. The residual film will provide short-term rust protection on cast iron and ferrous parts. This cleaner has special water conditioners that prevent scale of the washers and water hardness from building up on equipment. The surfactant package is low foaming and free rinsing.

Equipment

Processing tanks, piping, pumps and heat transfer surfaces constructed of mild steel will provide satisfactory service life.

Initial charging of tank

1. Fill tank 4/5 with water.
2. Add the appropriate amount of GEOCLEAN® 101S with agitation.
3. Fill tank with water to operating level and heat to operating temperature.

Solution control

Materials Required:
• 10 ml pipette
• 125 ml glass beaker
• Burette assembly
• 1% Phenolphthalein
• 1.0N Acid

Titrating for Total Concentration:
1. Pipette a 10 ml sample of the bath into a 125 ml glass beaker.
2. Add 3-4 drops of 1% Phenolphthalein.
3. Titrate with 1.0N Acid until a change from pink to colorless.
This is the free alkalinity. Divide the number of mls by 1.1 to get the percent GEOCLEAN® 101S concentration.

Storage, safety and handling

 

Store indoors. Keep from freezing. Check your local, state and federal regulations on chemical storage to insure compliance.

Avoid contact with eyes and prolonged contact with skin. Wash thoroughly after handling.
