FUNCTIONALITIES

Corrosion protection

ZnCOAT® Black is a zinc plating alternative with proven performance and quality.
It passes IFI-170 (16 cycles, Duration B) and QUV (>1000 hours with no change in appearance) cyclic tests. It also ensures bimetallic compatibility with aluminum alloys.

Friction control

ZnCOAT® Black allows to obtain a stable and controlled friction coefficient of 0.18. Its coefficient of torque is 0.22.

  • * Results depend on substrate, geometry of parts and type of application processes.
  • ** Can be waxed to modify friction.
Chemical resistance

Improved corrosion resistance to fertilizer.

No hydrogen embrittlement

Implemented via non-electrolytic application processes. This avoids the hydrogen embrittlement phenomenon that causes cracking of metals.

APPLICATION

Processes

ZnCOAT® Black is applied via bulk dip/spin, rack dip/spin, spray or electrostatic spray. This variety of processes allows to coat all types of parts, even those requiring partial coating, or with recessed and hollow surfaces.
Moreover, they are non-electrolytic and thus avoid the phenomenon of hydrogen embrittlement which causes cracking of metals.

TECHNOLOGY

Solventborne zinc flake

ZnCOAT® Black is a solventborne zinc flake coating designed as an alternative to zinc plating. Compared to conventional zinc plating, which is passivated using hexavalent or trivalent chromates that provide a thin-film passivation layer only on the surface, ZnCOAT® Black is chrome-free and contains passivating agents and corrosion inhibitors throughout the film.

Compliant with
REACh - Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and restriction of Chemicals
2011/65/EU and (EU) 2015/863 - Directive of the European Parliament on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment
WEEE - Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment
