[Volkswagen PV 1209] New in-house equipment!
The ACS Discovery My DM600C chamber (-75°C to +180°C) has recently joined our testing laboratory. It now enables us to perform PV 1200, meaning we can fully conduct PV 1209 testing.
The PV 1209 test evaluates corrosion resistance under extreme conditions. It combines:
✅ 5 days of PV 1210 – a cyclic test that alternates between different environmental and corrosive exposures:
- 🌊 4h salt spray exposure (NSS, DIN EN ISO 9227 using a modified salt solution: 40g NaCl + 10g CaCl per liter of water)
- 🌤️ 4h aging in a standard atmosphere
- 💧16h heat & humidity aging (DIN EN ISO 6270-2 CH)
✅ 2 days of PV 1200 – a test simulating extreme temperature fluctuations to quickly identify potential weaknesses in components:
- 🌡️ 60 min heating phase at +80°C, 80% humidity
- 🔥 240 min at +80°C and 80% humidity
- ❄️ 120 min cooling to -40°C,
- 🧊 240 min at -40°C,
- 🌤️ 60 min heating back to +23°C, humidity regulated to 30%
